Calabasas is a designate Firewise Community.
Calabasas residents are working together to make our community more resilient to wildfire.
Firewise is a community program from the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA). Residents report their Firewise fire-prevention related activities ($$ and hours), which qualify the community for Firewise recognition.
You are already doing many of these activities, you just need to report them!

What does it mean for you?
SAFER – Firewise communities, doing the recommended Firewise activities, are safer from wildfire.
INSURANCE DISCOUNTS – The California Insurance Commissioner has mandated that insurance companies must give discounts to Firewise communities. Download your community’s Firewise Certificate and send it to your home insurance company to find out about their Firewise-related discounts. Every action under the Safer from Wildfires program will qualify you for an insurance discount. By doing more, you can save more.
Many of your neighbors are already receiving their discounts.
KNOWLEDGE – Free home assessments provide you with a list of your home’s vulnerabilities to wildfire. Doing the necessary work listed by a trained assessor will make your home more resilient to wildfire and more insurable. Calabasas Firewise is not a compliance organization; it is up to you to do the work or not.
